Birds and Animals Celebrate at the Lilypot

The rains have broken the drought. Crested pigeons and Noisy Miners share a drink at the lilypot while the other birds and animals enjoy the fresh grass, new shoots and a greeener summer.

Joey Has The Best Seat
Safe and secure in Mummy's pouch, baby wallaby (called joey) has one of the best seats in the natural world. Joey can examine grasses at close quarters, learning to differentiate the quality of each blade of grass or leaf by its smell. Hopping in Mum's pocket around the valley, provides the thrill of living in a ride park. And Joey can disappear in an instant at the first hint of danger. (The pictures below are a bit 'soft' as they were taken through the glass door.)

Even A Wallaby Knows...The Beauty Of A Rose
Skippy loves scampering through our yard and adjacent bush, hopping through the rose bushes and jumping over the fence in an easy leap. But he stopped short, stood on his tip-toes and breathed in slowly.... unable to resist the beautiful fragrance wafting towards him, he swooned in delight as he whiffed each rose in turn. Even a wallaby knows how to appreciate the beauty of nature and the power of aroma-therapy.

Who's That in Your Pocket?
Be quick with your camera - before they bound out in a flash!
Wallabies abound in the Aussie bush. They are shy, quick on their feet and can disappear in the blink of an eye. Family groups tend to habit the same paddocks and gardens and there are few families that have have had several children, all whom have grown up in and around our yard. read more »
